 Helen Bader Center: Dementia Care

Helen Bader

The Jewish Home and Care Center has long been a national leader in dementia care, receiving attention from professionals around the world. The award-winning, newly redecorated Helen Bader Center offers a home-like environment with all of the support of our caregiving team. At the heart of the Helen Bader Center is Monya's Garden, a beautiful rooftop garden. Daily activities are planned to nurture the creative abilities that those with memory loss retain. Interaction, through socialization and programming, enables residents with memory loss to hold on to independence longer, while continuing activites that give their lives pleasure and meaning. Art and music therapy are also available to enhance their experiences.

The Helen Bader Center began as two family households of 12 residents each within the Jewish Home. The success and popularity of the Center has resulted in its expansion to an entire floor, encompassing neighborhoods of mild, moderate and advanced stages of development. Our trained professional staff will consider many factors when considering in which area a prospective resident is most likely to thrive. Since dementia is a progressive disease, the Jewish Home and Care Center has developed end-stage dementia programming for small groups and 1:1 sensory therapy. Our pastoral program provides spiritual support to both the family and the resident.
